Restore your smile with long-lasting, natural-looking implants

Missing teeth affect more than just your appearance — they impact how you eat, speak, and feel. Whether you’ve lost a single tooth or need multiple replacements, implants offer a permanent, reliable solution that supports both your oral health and your confidence.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are strong, long-lasting replacements for missing teeth. They are placed into the jawbone where they act as artificial tooth roots, supporting crowns, bridges, or dentures. Implants restore your smile and chewing ability while also helping to maintain healthy bone and facial structure.

What happens during a dental implant procedure?

1. Consultation & Digital Scan

We begin with a comprehensive dental exam, 3D imaging, and treatment planning. Custom 3D printed surgical guides can be made for a precision placement of your implant.

2. Surgical Implant Placement

The implant is gently inserted into the jawbone under local anaesthetic. Sometimes bone graft material is added to help with the stability and success of the implant. Most patients describe the procedure as more comfortable than a tooth extraction.

3. Healing & Integration

Over the next 3–6 months, the implant fuses with the bone in a process called osseointegration. You may receive a temporary replacement of the tooth in the meantime, especially for teeth visible in your smile

4. Restoration

Once healed, we attach a natural-looking ceramic crown or bridge to complete your smile.

FAQs about Dental Implants

    Is the procedure painful?

No — treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic and is typically well tolerated. Most patients describe it as easier than a tooth extraction. Mild post-surgery discomfort is normal and managed with pain relief.

How long does the process take?

Generally 3–6 months to allow for healing and integration, with temporary teeth available for visible areas.

What are dental implants made of?

Most implants are titanium, a strong, lightweight, biocompatible metal. Zirconia (ceramic) implants are available for patients with sensitivities or specific preferences.

    Will my implant look natural?

Yes — crowns and bridges are colour-matched and shaped to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.

    Are dental implants safe?

Yes — dental implants are a proven, safe treatment with very high success rates when placed by trained professionals.

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care, implants can last 15+ years, and many last a lifetime.

What can I eat after implant surgery?

Stick to soft foods for a few days. Once healed, implants function like natural teeth so you can enjoy most foods again.

How much do dental implants cost?

Cost depends on the number of implants, type of restoration, and any additional procedures (bone graft, sinus lift, guides). At Oaks Dental, we provide a detailed upfront treatment plan and flexible payment options.

Are implants covered by health insurance?

Yes — most private health funds cover implants under Major Dental. We can check your rebate instantly and provide your out-of-pocket cost.
