Clear Aligners at Oaks Dental
Confidence starts with a smile that feels aligned, comfortable, and uniquely yours.
Clear aligners offer a modern, discreet solution for gently straightening teeth without the wires and brackets used in traditional braces. Using a series of custom-made transparent trays, clear aligners gradually guide your teeth into a more harmonious position through precise, digitally designed movements.
At Oaks Dental, your clear aligner journey is planned with care, accuracy, and a focus on your comfort at every stage. Whether your goal is to correct crowding, close gaps, or improve your bite, clear aligners provide a flexible and subtle way to achieve a more confident smile.
What are clear aligners?
Clear aligners are thin, removable, almost invisible trays specially designed to fit snugly over your teeth. Each set of aligners applies gentle, targeted pressure to shift your teeth over time.
They may be suitable for adults or teens who want a more discreet orthodontic option, and can be used to help correct:
- Crowded or overlapping teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Overbite, underbite, or crossbite
- Mild to moderate bite concerns
- Relapse from previous orthodontic treatment
Because clear aligners can be removed for meals, brushing, and flossing, they offer flexibility without interrupting your lifestyle.
Your clear aligner journey at Oaks Dental
A thoughtful, structured process helps ensure your treatment is personalised and predictable.
1. Initial Consultation
Your dentist performs a full orthodontic assessment, including digital scans, photographs, and X-rays. We discuss your goals and show you a 3D simulation of how your teeth can move over time. This helps you understand the proposed treatment and expected outcomes.
2. Custom Aligner Fabrication
Using your 3D digital scans, a series of aligners is manufactured to move your teeth in carefully planned stages. Each aligner is shaped to make precise, incremental adjustments.
3. Fitting & Instructions
You’ll receive your first sets of aligners along with clear instructions on how to wear and care for them. Consistency is essential—aligners should be worn for 22 hours per day, and removed only when eating, drinking anything other than water, or brushing.
4. Regular Check-Ins
Every 4–6 weeks, we review your progress, answer questions, and ensure everything is moving as planned. You receive additional aligners during these visits and only pay for the aligners you take home.
5. Retention Phase
Once treatment is complete, retainers (either removable or fixed) are provided to help maintain your new alignment long-term. Retention is essential for preserving your results.
Before & After
How do clear aligners work?
Each aligner in your treatment sequence is worn for approximately 1–2 weeks before progressing to the next. Gradually, your teeth follow the programmed movements embedded within the aligner series. With consistent wear, clear aligners can address both cosmetic and functional concerns.
For best results, aligners must be worn 22 hours per day. Removing them too often can slow progress or extend treatment time.

Treatment time varies based on the complexity of movement—anywhere from a few months to over a year. Your dentist will give you an estimated timeline during your consultation.
Are clear aligners painful?
You may experience mild pressure or tightness for the first day or two of each new aligner. This is expected and generally settles quickly.
Can I eat with my aligners in?
No. Aligners should be removed for all meals and drinks except water.
How often do I need to wear my aligners?
For optimal results, aligners should be worn 22 hours per day.
Will clear aligners change my speech?
Some people notice a slight adjustment period, but most adapt quickly.
Do I still need retainers after treatment?
Yes. Retainers are essential to maintain your new alignment long-term.
Disclaimer
Orthodontic treatments, including clear aligners, may not be suitable for all patients. Your dentist will assess your oral health and bite to determine suitability and discuss potential risks, benefits, and alternatives before treatment. Individual results vary.
