Teeth Whitening

Brighten your smile with confidence

Our professional teeth whitening treatments lift stains and restore brilliance, giving you a noticeably whiter smile in just one visit.

Over time, teeth naturally stain or discolour from food, drinks, ageing, and lifestyle habits. Professional teeth whitening safely lifts stains and restores a brighter smile—often in just one visit.

At Oaks Dental, we offer in-chair whitening and take-home kits using clinically proven gels and techniques for noticeable results with minimal sensitivity.

The Oaks Dental ‘Keep It Bright’ Promise

Maintain your confident new smile with our ‘Keep It Bright’ program. In-chair whitening patients who return for their 6-monthly check-ups receive a complimentary professional-grade whitening top-up gel at each visit to keep their results fresh at home.

What causes teeth staining?

Tooth discolouration can be caused by a range of factors including:

  • Coffee, tea, red wine and dark-coloured foods
  • Tobacco use
  • Age-related thinning of enamel
  • Certain medications
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Trauma to teeth

How does whitening work

Whitening involves the application of a peroxide-based gel that penetrates the enamel to break down and remove stains. In-chair whitening delivers faster results using a specialised light to accelerate the process, while take-home kits allow for gradual whitening over 1–2 weeks under your dentist’s guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between in-chair and take-home whitening?

In-chair whitening is done in one visit with a strong professional gel for instant results — perfect if you want a whiter smile fast.
Take-home uses custom trays and a gentler gel for 1–2 weeks, giving gradual results, more control over shade, and a lower cost.

How long does Zoom in-chair whitening take?

Your appointment is 2 hours, including photos, prep, and aftercare advice. The whitening itself takes about 60 minutes over four 15-minute cycles.

    Is teeth whitening safe?

Yes — when done by a dentist. It’s not recommended for people with very sensitive teeth, gum disease, or certain restorations. We’ll check your suitability first.

How white will my teeth get?

Results vary, but most people see several shades lighter. We’ll set realistic expectations and share tips to maximise your results.

    How long do results last?

With good care, results last 12+ months. Our “Keep it Bright” program helps maintain your smile even longer.

Will whitening make my teeth sensitive?

Some people experience mild, temporary sensitivity during or after treatment. This can be eased with desensitising toothpaste or mild pain relief.

Can I whiten if I have fillings or veneers?

Yes, but whitening gel won’t change the colour of fillings, crowns, or veneers. We’ll advise on the best way to keep your smile looking even.

What should I avoid after whitening?

For 48 hours, skip dark foods and drinks like coffee, tea, red wine, berries, curry, and soy sauce to protect your results.
